The Housing Challenge We're Tackling

Ghana's Housing Crisis

Ghana faces a housing deficit exceeding 2 million units, with urban migration outpacing construction. Over 95% of rental housing is managed by informal landlords, creating widespread challenges for tenants nationwide.

Common exploitative practices include 2-5 year rent advances, unlawful evictions, discriminatory treatment, and poor housing conditions. Weak enforcement of existing rent control laws leaves tenants vulnerable and without recourse.

The Impact on Tenants

  • Economic hardship from excessive advance rent demands
  • Illegal evictions without proper notice or due process
  • Unsafe living conditions and substandard housing
  • Limited knowledge of tenant rights and legal protections
  • Difficulty accessing justice and dispute resolution
Ghana’s housing crisis leaves millions of tenants vulnerable due to housing shortages, weak rent law enforcement, and exploitative practices.
